Bullen REU Program
OSU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering established the Bullen Research Experiences for Undergrads (REU) Program to promote water conservation and quality. The program is funded through the Bullen Memorial Endowed Fund and provides opportunities for undergraduates at OSU to engage in water research with CEAT faculty. Applications are accepted in the first month of each semester via email to mary.foltz@okstate.edu.
Application Requirements:
Student CV/resume
PI statement of commitment (one page maximum, similar to a letter of recommendation where PI outlines their mentorship plan and support of the undergraduate)
One page proposal on a topic related to water conservation and/or quality, including specific tasks with estimated time requirements (not to exceed the 40 hours), which should be written by the undergraduate student with minimal assistance from the PI
Submit as a single PDF file titled “PI-Last-Name_Student-Last-Name_BullenREU_YEAR.pdf” to Mary Foltz via email
Review Process: Applications are reviewed by a panel of graduate students in a mock NSF review panel. Graduate students are taught the format and approach to the NSF merit review process and provide detailed feedback to undergraduates based on panel discussion and review. Those interested in participating in the review panel should email Mary Foltz.
